Hi there! First off, I want to say that it's very cool there is still so much going on in the world of the Dreamcast.
Last year I bought my first Dreamcast, specfically to play two games I had played previously on Nintendo 64. It is the black Sega Sports console and I love it.
Lately I've been looking into ways to get the most out of this system. This has led me here.
The first thing I'd like to do is either acquire a VGA box or perform the VGA mod. I'll likely be getting an extra system to practice this on. I don't have any specific questions about this, but if you have any idea how I could make an external box myself (instead of opening up my system) that would be helpful.
The second thing I would like to do is purchase an SD card adapter. I don't need any help with that specifically, but it does relate to the next thing.
Lastly, I'd like to maintain the system for as long as possible.
From what I understand, Dreamshell can help me do so.
So here is what I've gathered. Please correct me if any of these are wrong:
1. In order to play Dreamcast games and run emulators from an SD card, I need Dreamshell.
2.There is no way to run Dreamshell other than a disc without performing a BIOS mod on my system. From there I could install Dreamshell as a BIOS.
3. Dreamshell BIOS will allow me to play any Dreamcast game regardless of region.
4. Not all Dreamcast games will run through the SDCARD. Will I still be able to use the GDROM drive without having to change anything in the case of playing Crazy Taxi or another game determined not to work?
Thanks you for your help on this. If you could recommend which version of Dreamshell is best suited to my needs if not the latest I would appreciate it.
Thanks and keep up the good work!
