What is the biggest possible size of a HDD that is connected to a Dreamcast?
Are there any limitations ?
And concerning this topic, does it make difference if it is a IDE or SATA HDD
( using an appropiate adapter) ?

Theoretically you can use HDD up to 2TB.

In compatibility - no difference. But in speed the IDE is faster, because SATA adapters have some loss of speed (~1.5x slower).
CF card works over native IDE, so it's not slower as SATA.
