I'm trying to boot the dreamshell via HD + Sata IDE converter, the HD is recognized but does not start the program.
the following message appears:

Cheching for G1 ATA devices...
Found device with LBA48: 1953525168
Detected FAT32 filesystem on partition 0
Mounting filesystem....
FATFS: Error 5 in mounting a logical drive 0
Could not mount device as fatfs.




My HD is Seagate sata 2.5" 1TB in FAT32 format with proper "DS" folder.

Does it work ok with an IDE HDD?
How did you performed the IDE mod? Did you use kynar wires or a IDE cable directly soldered on the DC modo? What kind of SATA bridge are you using? Give us more details about your mod.

Anyway, this problem can be related to the wiring, I already faced this symptom.
Check the length of the wires and take a special attention for the GROUND connections.

A good job in adapting the IDE, and even then the adapter does not work fully!

Looks like bad formatting. HDD detected, boot sector reading normally (it's found partition with fatfs), but at mounting fs something went wrong.

The above mod (criticized by @Aldair), is still working, the problem is the bad formmating (mentioned by @SWAT). Beacuse i formmated this HD on a bad quality Sata to USB converter, not recognizing in the Dreamshell. The solution are formmating directily o a SATA port on my PC.

i have similar problem. Found LBA48 device and freeze... and cable is not so long
