As the title says, when I use my new VGA cable with my monitor or TV via a VGA -> HDMI adapter I'll get past the bios just fine but as soon as I see the Dreamshell logo (or even before then) the video signal will drop out.
I'm not sure what I've done wrong since I was previously able to use my cable with a VGA monitor just fine for several days. It wasn't until recently that this started happening.
I've copied over a fresh install of DS and that hasn't solved the issue, I'm unsure of what else I can do.
It may be the defective temperature fan or chip.
Your VGA cable is working perfectly. The chip that was removed in the video below, it checks if the fan is connected or working. But with time it shows this defect it cuts off 3.3 volts of CPU and GPU.

few VGA -> HDMI don't support not standart video signal
But it showed the startup bios of Dreamshell in the VGA.

You're right, I opened up the cable and found it only had resistors instead of capacitors. I'll probably just buy a Gekko or something and forget about this lol!

With composite video cable does Dreamcast work normal?
I'm not sure what caused this issue to start with, but after tearing down the console and putting everything back together the signal dropping stopped.
If this happens to anyone else, it may be as simple as that.

I do not use capacitors. Tested on many converters and works 100%!
But you need a 150ohm resistor on Hsync for other monitors.
