Is it okay to cut a molex cable then solder its 5v, 2 grounds, and 12v to the power supply pinout. Then I will connect the molex head to the ide to SATA adapter?

You probably can do it directly from your supply board. It's avoid to touch your motherboard.

No bro.... I can confirm it didn't work. Smoke came out of the molex pins.

You have only to plug the 5V, may your supply needs to be changed ?
