MX29LV160 it's a 3.3V chip, VA0 have 5V logic. Theoretically you can't use this chip on VA0, but it's works in some cases. So it's not guaranteed.
You can try use another chip, RC2/3 supports more chips but it's not fully tested, just supported by datasheet. Look for chip compability list here http://www.dc-swat.ru/page/dreamshell/firmware/ or direct in bflash module code https://github.com/DC-SWAT/DreamShell/blob/master/modules/bflash/devices.c?ts=4
