Hi everyone. I have a VA0 Dreamcast and installed a pre-flashed BIOS chip from RetroSix recently, it is a MX29F1610MC - 10 which I believe is the correct 5v part for VA0.

It came with Japan Cake BIOS retail version 1.032 which I understand now has issues with GDEMU. I have GDEMU clone 5.20.5 which works great on stock BIOS, but as expected just soft reboots on this JCB, so I made another sdcard with DreamShell 4.0.3 from the github releases here: https://github.com/DC-SWAT/DreamShell so that I can load DreamShell (it will load if it is placed in folder 01)

BIOS chip is wired correctly for this chip, pin 1 is !WE to GD-ROM connector B14 G1WREN, and pin 44 is WP connected to pin 23 VCC.

BIOS Flasher utility correctly identifies the chip and says Read/Write, but when I select a new .bin and try to flash it, it pretends to erase, then very slowly Write for about 3 minutes until reaching 50%, instantly stops with an error message saying "Write failed, error status: -5

Is there documented what these errors mean? I have checked all soldering joints and they seem very solid so I am not sure if this chip is bad somehow, or am I doing something wrong.

System boots properly, BIOS screens all work, but even after the failed flashing - nothing changes. Still same 1.032 JCB retail version.

Is this 2.5 IDE to SD adapter compatible with dreamshell?

I have seen many guides on using dreamshell with an IDE hard drive, or a sata hard drive with an adapter. Some of the mods are even soldered to the GD_ROM pcb board.

But about a year ago i saw a video on PS2 slim (some models) can be hacked to have this type of adapter soldered, which makes the ps2 slim work with an really smal SD card solution. the adapter is very small and thin.

so i would like to know if this adapter works with dreamshell too, i have seen no video of a mod using this adapter.

Using the latest Dreamshell 4.0.3 on a Dreamcast with an G1-ATA Mod

I really love Tetris every now and then and my favourite Dreamcast version is Tetris 4D (JPN Release).

Long time a ago I downloaded a Dreamshell IDE ISO Pack which contained a Tetris_4D.iso

This game always worked fine in ISOLOADER.

I decided to upgrade most of the .ISO files to Full GDI versions and GDI Optimize them, most of these GDI's work but somehow I did not get the Tetris 4D GDI version to get past the splash screen.
The ISO I had worked fine so I decided to delete the GDI and go back to the ISO version.

Now when I launch the ISO in ISOLOADER I get an error on screen:
DS_ERROR: Can't open /isoldr/1ST_READ.BIN

Error also attached as Image

Removed any presets from ISOLOADER and even deleted my complete DS folder to get a fresh one from the GITHUB archive but still I get this error.

I know the ISO is fine, because when I open RetroDream 3.0.0 and launch the game from there it does work...

Does anyone know how to resolve the issue?

Problem trying to convert with raw2adpcm

Hello, sorry for the poor English, I'm not a native speaker, so I used a translator.

I've been trying to play games with CDDA and the sound is choppy.

I'm using one card to adapt the Dreamcast's disc drive port to a SATA HDD and one 1TB SATA SSD.

I read that the best thing to do would be to convert the audio from RAW to WAV using raw2adpcm.bat, and I read about the isomake tool.

I downloaded version 2.4 of isomake, but it doesn't work for me; nothing works except optimize_gdi.bat.

I downloaded version 2.3 today, and I managed to convert it using raw2adpcm.bat, but it generated .raw.wav files, like this:

Sega Rally 2 v1.003 (1999)(Sega)(US)[!].gdi
track01.bin
track02.raw.wav
track03.bin
track04.raw.wav
track05.raw.wav , etc...

I tried running it like this and there was no sound, no music. So I edited the .gdi file to match the tracks, changing everything from .raw to .raw.wav, but still no music in the game.

Then I tried removing the .raw from the track names and leaving only .wav, ran it and nothing. After that, I put all the track names back in .raw and changed the files to .raw as well, still no music during the game.

I repeated these processes by running the gdi optimizer before and after, I don't know what else to do, can anyone help me? Thank you.

Now it's at the GDEMU level!
