Hello,
I'm new here and registered because me and a friend of mine have a very strange behavior with the new ISO Loader and our setup.
Our Setup is like follows:
- GD-IDE adapter by DragonCity https://dragoncity17.wordpress.com/2018/03/17/sega-dreamcast-gd-ide/
- IDE2CF Adapter (GSDGV)
- CF2SD Adapter (Chenyang)
This setup works as intended with the RetroDream pack from DragonCity (therefore DreamShell 4.0 RC4).
But when i update to DS 4 RC5, i can't get a single game to boot.
Regardless of GDI, OPT, ISO... it just won't boot.
The ISO Loader starts but then freezes after printing "Executing...".
I can then only reboot the console.
I tried Donald Duck - Quack Attack and 101 Dalmatians for this.
Both worked flawless with RC4 and won't boot with RC5.
If there is a way to debug this and supply logs or whatever, i'd be pleased to provide them ^^

In my memories, i had simply replace DS folder, maybe copy the DS_CORE.bin from
RC5 to your root. But for me, it's the same file.

Still not boot shadow gangs even with no dma no cdda...
The flinstone : game crash when we start a race even without cdda.
Didn't try in low level yet.

Its not that i wasn't able to update to RC5 but the ISOLoader Beta 7, Beta 9 and Beta 10 all show the same behavior: they get stuck after printing "Executing..."

So it seems there is some issue here.
But unfortunately there is no additional print and the controller no longer reacts afterwards.

This is not the DreamShell, this is RetroDream with a part of DreamShell ISO Loader code. And RetroDream support only up to RC4.
With new loaders it should have very limited backward compatibility and seems fully broken now though I tried to keep it.
To use all new features of the new ISO Loader, you should use DreamShell 4.0.0 RC5+ while author of RetroDream not updated it.

But even if i try to boot from RC5 directly i get the exact same error (sometimes even worse as the console resets itself the moment i select the game)
so i dont believe its an issue of retrodream... i came up with retrodream way later and only, because it has presets for the games.
And depending in the config i use for the game, somethimes i even only get a black screen.

I have a G1ATA adapter from dragoncity, and I tried three SATA2IDE adapters, but DreamShell did not boot with any, although this adapter boots without problems with an IDE HDD.
dragoncity checked before sending and the sata adapter worked for him without problems.
so that's what I'm writing this for, for unknown reasons, some consoles are not compatible with different converters, but all consoles always work well with IDE HDD and the problem is not in the software or adapter from dragoncity

0.6.6+ loaders form here works?
After some first beta's in 0.8.0 I removed IDE re-init at first time call of GD syscalls. Looks like you freeze at first data request.
Have you USB->Serial cable?

- 102 Dalmatians works during gameplay with SD;

We finished and translated grandia 2 with RC4 with @Dragoncity (and we had a crash with a gdemu clone during test so I love dreamshell more than before
) some years ago now.I'll try it with RC5 this evening but be careful about the good preset to avoid issues like it looks like with 102 dalmatians.

Grandia 2 run for me with rc5 :
Preset from @dragoncity's liste non dma memory preset 0xcff0000
Even in true dma.
Exploring further memories preset for the flinstone and now i'm able to start a race but it's unplayable.
Edit : find the good preset for the flinstone !
True dma memory : 0xcfe8000
Cdda tmu1 dma
no irq
The game is not totally smooth, but i guess it's normal because it's an unreleased. The game is playable, i finish some races.
Still the same issue data tranfert not totally good as 0.6.11_se is and cdda has a little distorsion.
But loops are good
Edit 2 : i tried UEFA striker, same preset as UEFA dream soccer :
True dma, 0x8C000100 | IRQ | Direct | Behind the Loader | DMA TMU1 | CDDA
A lot of distorsion but for me it's good
Edit 3 : sturmwind has the read error message when you start a game, it's the better result i have with rc5
But no music during fmv and i'm sure i've already have them with previous rc5 beta loader (at least the first one). It may be good to check @swat if you Can, i Can share m'y iso if you think there is something interesting to find.

)I have an 8GB spare yet, so the work will continue, but the tests will become even more difficult.
I ordered another one for 128 GB from Ali, I hope it will be normal, but I will receive the parcel only in March.
Unfortunately in our country CF cards have risen in price a lot and now this one costs 3-4 times more than what I bought it for.

Damn ! I have only a micro sd compact flash converter and wince games don't work with it, but if you need, I can send it to you for free, with a sd card too. Tell me in pm.
I try some wince games with cdda, and I have everytime the message failed! during the boot, it means this version can handle the wince games with cdda ?

No changes for games compatibility.
VMU dumps should puts to /vmu/dump001.vmd or /DS/vmu/dump001.vmd with up to 999 number.
Screenshot writes to /screenshot or /DS/screenshot with auto naming.

Very cool update @SWAT! Since networking is now working, does that mean FTP support is planned? :-)
Also, how do you take screenshots? I assume a button combination?
Edit: Figured out the screenshots (Start + A +B).
Tested it in a few games. Works really well in Tony Hawk and Donald Duck Goin' Quakers. I was able to take a screenshot in Street Fighter Alpha 3 but it froze right after doing it. Tried Ready 2 Rumble but the game just froze with no screenshot taken.
